About

An amateur, happily.

My name is Federico, and I am a porteño (meaning "from Buenos Aires"), who currently lives in Denmark.

I've been shooting film for almost 20 years now, ever since curiosity got the better of me back in 2008, when I got my hands on a lovely Canonet QL-19. It started as an experiment, but quickly turned into something I genuinely love, mostly because of how much film forces you to slow down. When a roll only gives you 36 frames and each one costs actual money to shoot and develop, you stop the good old "spray and pray" and start looking.

I call myself an amateur on purpose, and I am proud of it. It's the actual word for someone who does something purely for the love of it (no clients or algorithms to please).

Halide Street exists because I got tired of platforms that crop my photographs into squares, bury them under ads, start demanding a subscription, limit how many photos you can upload, or decide which ones you're allowed to see.

My first film camera: Canonet QL-19, the one that made me fall in love with film... and would eventually be stolen from me in a café in Buenos Aires. :(
